About SuzyQ
Susan Ballentine Cloer, 54, lost her battle to melanoma after a long, courageous fight. Sue passed away peacefully in Bradenton, Florida on May 31, 2018, surrounded by loved ones.
She was a loving wife, devoted daughter, and extremely caring mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.
Diagnosed with melanoma in 2005, she underwent surgery at University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia to remove a tumor on her hand. Nine years later, in the fall of 2014, the melanoma returned and subsequently spread. After exhausting options at UPenn, Sue moved to Florida in the fall of 2015 in order to enter a Phase II trial at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. The trial reduced her tumors by 90%, giving her an additional year and half of good quality life, before the metastatic melanoma returned once again in the fall of 2017.
Sue enjoyed spending her final years living on the water in Bradenton. Her family and friends will always remember her thoughtful ways, her smile that could light up a room, and her positive attitude, especially in the face of adversity.
